Corinthia Gewan Villas - Architectural Aluminium Systems Across 18 Villas

Corinthia Gewan Villas | Architectural Aluminium Systems Across 18 Villas

Project Overview

Project Name: Corinthia Gewan Villas

Location: Gewan Island, Qatar

Developer: United Development Co.

Architect: AE7

Engineer: Qatar Design Consortium (QDC)

The Corinthia Gewan Villas project comprises 18 villas on Gewan Island. The scope involved coordinated delivery of multiple exterior systems across all units, with consistent detailing, interfaces, and installation logic.

SunFrame was responsible for the engineering development and manufacturing of the aluminium systems within this scope.

Scope of Work

The delivered systems include:

  • Aluminium pergolas
  • Car park shade
  • Garden fences &gates
  • Sunken seat
  • Pergola landscape

All elements were developed as interrelated systems, with aligned dimensions, connection strategies, and material specifications.

Project Scale

Total delivered scope: 6,200sqm across 18 villas.

Roof pergola systems form the primary structural component, supported by secondary systems including shading structures, boundary elements, and landscape features.

Engineering Approach

Multiple system types with different structural roles and installation conditions required a coordinated engineering strategy. Key considerations included:

  • Defining repeatable module logic across villa units
  • Standardizing connection details between pergolas, shading systems, and adjacent structures
  • Resolving tolerances between architectural surfaces and aluminium systems
  • Ensuring installation feasibility within constrained site sequencing

This reduced on-site adjustments and improved assembly consistency.

Material & Fabrication

All systems were based on aluminium profiles adapted for coastal conditions. Fabrication focused on:

  • Section optimization for spanning and load requirements
  • Surface treatment suitable for marine exposure
  • Controlled production tolerances to match site installation conditions

Project Delivery

Coordination across multiple villas with repeated but non-identical layouts was managed through system standardization and controlled variation, enabling efficient production and consistent architectural alignment.

Project Significance

This project reflects a multi-system aluminium delivery exceeding 6,000 sqm, where execution quality is driven by engineering definition and system integration.
